Interactive Design Capstone Project
Room Magnet (Primary Project)
Task: Design and build a functional website to appeal to RoomMagnet’s target audience using user research, persona and user story creation, low-to-high-fidelity prototyping, and testing of products. My role: UX Designer.
Background: RoomMagnet.com is a digital platform that connects college students with retirees and empty nesters looking to monetize extra home space, receive household assistance, or age in place. They approached JMU seeking a team to develop a website for their startup.
Solution: As a UX designer, I collaborated with a team consisting of a front-end designer/developer and back-end developers. My responsibilities included user research, persona and user story creation, low-to-high-fidelity prototyping, and product testing. This project was part of a competition—while our team didn’t win, we gained valuable experience through the process. Interactive Design Capstone Project
Roam/Happy Hiker (Secondary Project)
Task: Recreate a project from the beginning of your time in SMAD using the skills gained throughout the program.
Solution: I chose to revisit one of my first SMAD projects—an app proposal for student hikers called Roam. For my capstone, I transformed Roam into Happy Hiker, conducting additional user research and analyzing market competition. I also developed paper prototypes and high-fidelity prototypes to refine the application.

Interactive Design Introductory Project
Unite
Task :Develop a fictitious app for college students and graduates, following all stages of UX research and design.
Solution: Our team created a job search app that allows job seekers and employers to swipe left or right on each other based on job descriptions, resumes, cover letters, and more. Inspired by Tinder and LinkedIn, this concept aimed to streamline job matching in a familiar, user-friendly format. We followed the full UX process, from user research to high-fidelity prototyping, providing invaluable experience for new ID students. You can find the full project summary here.
E-Commerce Proposal
Modern Consulting Group
Task: Act as a fictitious consulting group that is building an e-commerce website for another entity.
Solution: Our team created a website proposal for Millennial Interiors, an interior design company. The proposal covered marketing, design, and user experience. We conducted market research on analytics, keywords, SEO, target audiences, and social media strategy. The design phase focused on website structure, color palette, and wireframes for both web and mobile. For UX, we developed user personas, usability considerations, and design requirements.
